The Four Friends
Four friends live in a
village which has been struck by famine. Three of them are extremely
clever and learned and consider their friend Shivanand a lazy but
practical fool.
Lion and Poor Slave
A
slave, ill treated by his master, runs away to the forest. There he
comes across a lion in pain because of a thorn in his paw. The slave
bravely goes forward and removes the thorn gently.
The lion without hurting him goes away.
Father and the Donkey
Banwarilal is a simple soul who believes whatever he is
told. The village boys are aware of this and exploit his simplicity for a
few laughs. One day, Banwarilal is on his way to the market with his
son to sell their donkey. He comes across some village boys out to have
fun.
Controlling Temper
There once was a little boy
who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him
that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the
fence.
Goes Around, Comes Around
One day a man saw an old
lady, stranded on the side of the road, but even in the dim light of
day, he could see she needed help. So he pulled up in front of her
Mercedes and got out. His Pontiac was still sputtering when he
approached her.
The Wise Old Man
A wealthy man requested an
old scholar to wean his son away from his bad habits. The scholar took
the youth for a stroll through a garden. Stopping suddenly he asked the
boy to pull out a tiny plant growing there.
Information Please
When I was quite young, my
father had one of the first telephones in our neighborhood. I remember
well the polished, old case fastened to the wall. The shiny receiver
hung on the side of the box.
The Wet Pants
There is a nine-year-old kid
sitting at his desk and all of a sudden, there is a puddle between his
feet and the front of his pants are wet.
He thinks his heart is going to stop
because he cannot possibly imagine how this has happened. It’s never
happened before, and he knows that when the boys find out he will never
hear the end of it..
Lesson Learned
One day, the father of a very wealthy
family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of
showing him how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and
nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
Five More Minutes
While at the park one day, a woman sat
down next to a man on a bench near a playground. “That’s my son over
there,” she said, pointing to a little boy in a red sweater who was
gliding down the slide. “He’s a fine looking boy” the man said. “That’s
my daughter on the bike in the white dress.”
The Poor Man’s Wealth
Ramchand and Premchand were neighbours. Ramchand was a poor farmer. Premchand was a landlord.
The Ship of Friendship
A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the
men on it were able to swim to a small, desert like island.
The two survivors who have been a good friends, not knowing what else to
do, agreed that they had no other recourse but to pray to God. However,
to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to divide the
territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the island.
Little Boy’s Love for his Family
I was walking around in a Big Bazar store making shopping, when I saw a
Cashier talking to a boy couldn’t have been more than 5 or 6 years old. The
Cashier said, "I’m sorry, but you don’t have enough money to buy this doll."
Then the little boy turned to me and asked, "Uncle, are you sure I don’t have
enough money?"
The Man and The Little Cat
One day, an old man was having a stroll in the forest when he
suddenly saw a little cat stuck in a hole. The poor animal was
struggling to get out. So, he gave him his hand to get him out. But the
cat scratched his hand with fear. The man pulled his hand screaming with
pain.
The False Human Belief
As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by
the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope
tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the
elephants could, at anytime can break away from their bonds but for some
reason, they did not.
Making Relations Special
When I was a kid, my Mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner
every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she had
made dinner after a long, hard day at work. On that evening so long ago,
my Mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely burned biscuits in
front of my dad.
Until Death do us Apart
When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand
and said, I’ve got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly.
Again I observed the hurt in her eyes. Suddenly I didn’t know how to
open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a
divorce. I raised the topic calmly.
Struggles of our Life
Once upon a time a daughter complained to her father that her life
was miserable and that she didn’t know how she was going to make it. She
was tired of fighting and struggling all the time. It seemed just as
one problem was solved, another one soon followed. Her father, a chef,
took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each
on a high fire.
The Bear and The Two Friends
Once two friends were walking through the forest. They knew that
anything dangerous can happen to them at any time in the forest. So they
promised each other that they would remain united in any case of
danger.
Suddenly, they saw a large bear approaching them.
Think Before You Judge
A doctor entered the hospital in hurry after being called in for an urgent surgery. He answered the call asap, changed his clothes and went directly to the surgery block. He found the boy’s father pacing in the hall waiting for the doctor.
On seeing him, the father yelled, “Why did you take all this time to come? Don’t you know that my son’s lifeis in danger? Don’t you have any sense of responsibility?”
